Kedar Dighe of Uddhav Thackeray camp accused of threatening rape victim, case registered

Thane’s new Shiv Sena district chief Kedar Dighe seems to be in legal trouble. It is reported that a case has been registered against him for threatening a rape victim. Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had given the command of Thane district to Dighe three days ago. He is the nephew of late Anand Dighe.

According to media reports, Dighe is accused of threatening a 23-year-old rape victim. The woman was allegedly raped by a friend of Shiv Sena’s Thane district chief at a five-star hotel in Lower Parel. A case has been registered against Dighe and his friend Rohit Kapoor at NM Joshi Marg police station.

A senior police officer said, “We had received the complaint and a case has been registered against Dighe. The accused has not been arrested yet. The matter is reportedly dated July 28. Police say the woman works as a sales executive at the hotel and had met Kapoor to sell her club membership.

According to media reports, the woman later alleged that Kapoor raped her when she went to his room to collect the cheque. Police said, “The woman informed her friend and later on Monday went to her room to confront Kapoor. Dighe then allegedly offered him money for not complaining to the police and later threatened dire consequences.
