After a ‘secret meeting’ at Congress MP Uttam Kumar Reddy’s residence in Hyderabad, the political stir has intensified in Telangana. Speculations are rife in political circles about an alliance between the Congress and the BRS. According to an India Today report, sources said that BRS ministers Satyavati Rathore, Sabita Indra Reddy and others were present in the meeting held on March 10. This meeting lasted for several hours. It is being told that during this period ‘misuse’ of central agencies and other issues were discussed before the upcoming elections.
According to reports, N Padmavathi Reddy of Congress was seen along with the BRS minister and other senior women leaders of KCR’s party. The speculation of a pre-poll alliance with the BRS comes at a time when the Congress has attacked KCR’s daughter Kavita over the Delhi liquor scam. On the alliance discussion, BJP spokesperson N Ramachandra Rao said the meeting pointed to a nexus between the Congress and the BRS.
BRS protesting against ED is an excuse for Congress: BJP
Rao said, “Earlier, Kavita herself had said that there is a possibility of her joining hands with the Congress. Regarding this, Komareddy Venkatreddy had said that if we have an alliance, it will be with BRS only. Now it is very clear that Congress and BRS have come together to fight elections against BJP. He further said that this meeting shows that the protest against ED and CBI is just an excuse to come with them.
Challenge to save CM chair in front of KCR
It is known that assembly elections are to be held in Telangana by the end of this year. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will face the challenge of retaining the CM’s chair this time. The BRS, which won a landslide victory in 2018, will try to form the government for the third time in 2023. In this series, the Telangana government has decided to increase the financial assistance given to poor people under Griha Laxmi Yojana to Rs 3 lakh. The decision was taken during the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister KCR at Pragati Bhawan recently.
