The Delhi Capitals team suffered a 57-run defeat in the first qualifier of the IPL 2020 against the Mumbai Indians due to poor performance by the batsmen. Mumbai, batting first, scored 200 runs in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets thanks to excellent innings by Suryakumar Yadav (51), Ishaan Kishan (notout 55) and Hardik Pandya (notout 37). In response, the Delhi team could only manage 143 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. The Delhi team lost their first three wickets in this match without scoring any runs. Prithvi Shaw once struggled with his poor form and could not even open his account. Shaw was the target of people on Twitter after his innings.

Prithvi Shaw’s bat has looked completely silent in this entire tournament. Shaw has scored just 228 runs in 13 matches played this season at a strike rate of 136.52. Shaw’s highest score in the last 8 innings has been 19, while he has been out on zero three times during this period. Shaw’s constant dismissal in every match has created a lot of pressure on the middle order of the team, due to which the batting of Delhi has flopped badly in the previous matches. After being dismissed for zero against Mumbai, Prithvi was the target of people on Twitter and was trolled. On social media, people shared many memes related to Prithvi Shaw.

Despite losing the first qualifier against Mumbai, the Delhi team will have one more chance to reach the final. Delhi Capitals will take on the team that won the eliminator match in the second qualifier. The Delhi team defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore to finish the league stage at number two in the points table.
