Jason Holder, who performed brilliantly with the ball and bat in the IPL 2020 Eliminator match, said that the team benefited greatly due to the diversity in the bowling attack of the team. Holder took three wickets for just 25 runs in his four-over spell in the match played against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In addition, Holder teamed up with Kane Williamson (not out 50) to lead the team to victory with a knockout 24 not out. Holder said the team returned to the tournament at the right time.
After his strong performance, Holder said, “For me, it is like implementing plans.” We had a lot of discussion about certain players and in between matches it depends entirely on how you are implementing your plans. We used our skills and brains to lead the bowlers. The morale is quite good as we have done well in the second leg of the tournament. We are showing our top game at the right time and are in good rhythm. On different occasions, different players have proceeded and taken responsibility.
Holder, speaking on his performance, said, ‘I bowled more overs on the net. In the last few years, I suffered some injuries which affected my preparations, as I was able to bowl a lot less. I had a shoulder injury and had to undergo surgery, so I worked hard and nurtured my skills. ‘ Talking about the bowling of the team, Holder said, “Sandeep swings the ball. Natarajan bowls economically with his variations and there is consistency in his performance. The length of Sandeep is low, but with a length of six feet and seven inches, he achieves good bounce. Rashid is a world class spinner and we also have Nadeem. Warner has used him well in this tournament.
