India’s veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja could be ruled out of next month’s two Tests against Bangladesh as he is yet to fully recover from a knee injury. Cricbuzz on Saturday quoted sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as saying that Uttar Pradesh spinner Saurabh Kumar will replace Jadeja in the Test team.
Saurabh is part of the India A team that left for Dhaka on Thursday to play two four-day matches against Bangladesh A. The second four-day match between India A and Bangladesh A will end on December 9, while India and Bangladesh will begin their official Tests on December 14.
It is noteworthy that Jadeja was injured during the match against Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2022, after which he underwent knee surgery. Due to this injury, he could not take part in the remaining matches of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022.

The BCCI on Wednesday also announced Jadeja’s exclusion from the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh starting December 4. Shahbaz Ahmed has been included in the ODI squad in place of Jadeja. India are scheduled to play three ODIs (December 4, 7 and 10) and two Tests in Bangladesh and a strong team led by Rohit Sharma will tour the neighboring country. The Test matches will be played in Chittagong from 14 to 18 December and in Mirpur from 22 to 26 December.
