Rohit Sharma, who made Mumbai Indians the IPL champions for the fifth time under his captaincy, will not leave for the Australia tour with the Indian team flying from Dubai to Sydney on Wednesday. He will return to India and try to fit fully with his hamstring injury. When the national selectors announced the ODI, T20 and Test team for the tour of Australia, Rohit was not included in any team, describing him as unfit. There was a lot of criticism as Rohit was practicing and had to play in the last match and playoff match of his IPL team Mumbai Indians.
The BCCI medical team was monitoring Rohit’s fitness and this medical team has informed the selection committee about his fitness. After discussions with Rohit, he has been rested from ODIs and T20 series in Australia so that he can regain his full fitness. Rohit has been included in the Indian team of four Tests for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
India’s tour of Australia will start from 27 November and will run till 19 January. In this tour, the Indian team will play three ODIs, three T20s and four Tests. Rohit was injured in the left hamstring on October 18 while taking a run against Kings XI Punjab. He did not play the next four matches in Mumbai after that. He then played in the last league match, first qualifier and final. In the final, he scored 68 runs for his team.
