The Australian team dominated the fourth day of the Border-Gavaskar Test Series being played between India and Australia. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday said that the first session of the fifth and final day of the third Test against Australia will have to be secured.
India have got a difficult target of 407 runs to win the match and by the end of the fourth day of the game, they have scored 98 runs losing two wickets and to win the match, India still has to score 309 runs. India lost Shubman Gill and half-century batsman Rohit Sharma before the end of the day, which has shocked his hopes. All hopes of India rests on the knockout batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Ajinkya Rahane.
Ashwin said after the fourth day’s play, “I hope these two knockout batsmen will take the front on the final day and lay a strong foundation for the team in the first session.” Rahane scored a brilliant century in the second Test in Melbourne while Pujara scored a struggling half-century in the first innings of this match.
The off-spinner said, “It is very important for us that we play the first season well and a good season means that we don’t have to lose any wickets.” The two players who are at the crease at the moment have vast experience and know this format better. Ajinkya scored a century in Melbourne while Pujara has scored a half-century in Sydney. We sincerely hope that both will perform brilliantly on the last day.
