IAS Abhishek Singh said on the decision of the Election Commission – I have not done anything wrong

On the action taken by the Election Commission, IAS officer Abhishek Singh said that there was nothing wrong in the post made by him. However, he said that he accepts the decision of the Election Commission with all humility. The commission has removed an IAS officer from the post of general observer for the Gujarat assembly elections on charges of posting pictures related to his official work on Instagram. Abhishek is an IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh.

On EC’s decision, IAS officer Abhishek Singh tweeted, “I accept the decision of the Hon’ble Election Commission with all humility. However, I believe there is nothing wrong with this post. A public servant, reporting for public duty, in a car bought with public money, accompanied by public officials, driving it to the public. This is neither a publicity nor a stunt!

In a strongly worded letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Gujarat on Friday, the commission said the 2011 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer took to the social media platform Instagram to share his appointment as general observer. and used his official position for a ‘publicity stunt’.

The Commission took the matter very seriously and immediately relieved him of the role of General Observer. The commission has barred that officer from being entrusted with any election-related responsibility till further orders.

According to sources, the said officer has also been directed to leave the constituency where he was entrusted with the responsibility. The officer has been asked to report to his nodal officer in his parent cadre. Now in his place Krishna Bajpai, a 2011 batch IAS officer, will look after the supervisor duties at Bapunagar and Asarwa.
