Hanuman Chalisa controversy: If you have courage, show Uddhav Thackeray by contesting against me, Navneet Rana challenged

Navneet Rana, who came back from jail for announcing the reading of Hanuman Chalisa, an independent MP of Amravati, is again in aggressive attitude. On Sunday, he challenged Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray that if you have the courage, then show it by contesting against me. Navneet Rana, who was arrested by Mumbai Police last month over the controversy over reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’, has recently got bail. He also claimed that the people of Mumbai and Lord Ram will teach a lesson to Shiv Sena in the civic polls.

Shiv Sena President Thackeray took oath as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council on May 2020. He became the Chief Minister in November 2019 after an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress. Earlier he was not a member of the state assembly. Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana were arrested by the Mumbai Police on 23 April. The couple had announced that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Chief Minister Thackeray’s private residence ‘Matoshree’ here, which angered Shiv Sena workers.

Expressed confidence of winning against Uddhav Thackeray

A special court in Mumbai had granted bail to the couple on May 4. He came out of jail on May 5, following which Navneet Rana was admitted to a private hospital here. His lawyer had told that Rana had complaints of high blood pressure, body ache and spondylitis. Talking to reporters on Sunday after being discharged from the hospital, Navneet Rana said, ‘I challenge Uddhav Thackeray ji to elect one constituency and be directly elected by the people. I will fight against them. I will work hard with honesty and win the election and he (Chief Minister) will come to know about the power of the people.
