Had gone to connect, but the companions started leaving; How Rahul Gandhi made a big mistake in Maharashtra

Rahul Gandhi’s statement on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar has created a ruckus in Maharashtra, while taking the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari. The Shiv Sena of the Uddhav faction, which is one of the allies of the Congress in Maharashtra, has objected to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, so now there are indications that the alliance in the state may also be affected. Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MP Sanjay Raut has said that such statements can lead to a rift in the MVA (Maha Vikas Aghadi) and Rahul Gandhi should avoid it. Political experts believe that Rahul Gandhi’s comment on VD Savarkar may harm the Congress. The remarks come at a time when he is reportedly undertaking a long journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to connect India. He is trying to unite people by removing the alleged hatred prevailing in the country. But now it seems that by commenting on VD Savarkar without any reason, Rahul has done a big mistake for the Congress.

Shiv Sena does not like to hear a single word against Savarkar

In the year 2019, when the Maha Vikas Aghadi was formed in Maharashtra, everyone was quite surprised. In fact, two parties with opposite ideologies became part of this alliance with NCP and ran the government for almost two and a half years. While Shiv Sena’s ideology has been of extreme Hindutva and VD describes Savarkar as a great revolutionary, on the other hand, Congress has been making statements against Savarkar for years. This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi has raised the issue of Savarkar apologizing to the British. Such statements have been given by the former Congress chief in the past as well. In such a situation, when Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP formed an alliance together, questions began to arise that this alliance would hardly last long. Now that the MVA is out of power in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena has openly opposed the Congress on the issue of Savarkar. Since 2019, the Shiv Sena, which has been standing with the Congress on almost every issue, has started leaving it on the issue of Savarkar. At the same time, NCP is also not openly supporting Congress on this issue. It is known that Shiv Sena does not like to hear a single word against Savarkar. Even Shiv Sena has been demanding for a long time to give ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Savarkar.

The statement given on Savarkar will affect the yatra!

Recently, when Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra was entering Maharashtra, all the parties of MVA were together and hoped that this would help create an atmosphere against the central government. Due to this, Maharashtra Congress leaders met Uddhav Thackeray and NCP leaders and also invited them to come on the yatra. Earlier there was speculation about Uddhav Thackeray’s participation, but when the yatra reached Maharashtra, former minister and Uddhav’s son Aditya Thackeray joined it. Aditya and Rahul displayed distinct chemistry during the journey. When Rahul put his hand on Aditya’s shoulder, it seemed that perhaps now the old enmity between Shiv Sena and Congress is also going to end. At the same time, the picture of Rahul Gandhi and Aditya hugging attracted everyone. Besides this, NCP MP Supriya Sule also joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra, sending a clear message of opposition unity. Amidst all this, due to the raising of the issue of VD Savarkar, his own allies started opposing Rahul Gandhi’s issue and now the alliance is also in trouble. In such a situation, it is believed that in the coming days, ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ may also be affected.

Why is Savarkar so important for Maharashtra?

VD Savarkar was a resident of Maharashtra. Because of this also people consider Savarkar as their hero. On the other hand, due to the ideology of Hindutva, parties like BJP, Shiv Sena have been in favor of Savarkar for years. Savarkar has been linked to Marathi identity. This is the reason why most parties in Maharashtra do not speak against Savarkar. While the Shiv Sena openly supports Savarkar, the Maharashtra unit leaders of the NCP and the Congress refrain from commenting much.

Meaning of protesting just before Gujarat elections

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is taking place at a time when elections have been held in Himachal Pradesh recently and polling is going to be held in Gujarat in a few days. Rahul Gandhi has so far kept himself away from both the states. Opposing Savarkar just before the Gujarat elections can also harm the Congress. Political experts believe that Rahul Gandhi has always been opposing Savarkar, but now the time is not the same as before. Being in power for a long time, BJP has added a large number of people who are standing in support of Savarkar. Not only political parties, a large number of youth also consider Savarkar a hero and appreciate him for his contribution to the freedom struggle. In such a situation, because of attacking Savarkar during the elections, the Congress may also have to bear the loss.
