G-20 Summit: A blow to Pakistan, G-20 summit to be held in Jammu and Kashmir

G-20 Summit: India has got great success on Kashmir issue. The Government of India is going to give a blow to Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. The meeting of the G-20, an influential grouping of the world’s major economies, will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023. In this meeting, 20 countries including China, Canada, America, Germany, Turkey will participate. Through this conference, Pakistan’s claim on Kashmir is being seen as a rejection. Along with this, a message will be sent to the world through this conference that the common citizen here fully believes in Indian democracy.

Let us tell you that this will be the first major international summit to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the end of the special Jammu and Kashmir received on August 5, 2019 and bifurcation of it into two Union Territories. In September last year, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal was appointed as India’s envoy to the G20.

According to an official order issued by the Government of India, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the Union Territory will be the chairman of the committee, which has been constituted following a letter dated June 4 by the Ministry of External Affairs. The order issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department, said, “It is approved to constitute a committee for overall coordination of the G20 meetings to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.”

The members of the committee include Commissioner Secretary (Transport), Administrative Secretary (Tourism), Administrative Secretary (Hospitality & Protocol) and Administrative Secretary (Culture). “In addition, the Principal Secretary to the Government (Housing and Urban Development Department) shall be designated as the Union Territory level nodal officer for coordinating the arrangements for G20 meetings in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the order said. Significantly, India has been a member of this organization since the establishment of the G-20 in 1999.
