Farooq Abdullah roared again, told Kashmir an integral part of India; Demand to restore statehood

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday demanded to reinstate Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India. Along with this, the former Chief Minister also questioned the delay in the elections and said that it is very strange. “Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir belong to this country. We want statehood to be restored and elections to be held soon,” he said.

Abdullah termed the central government’s decision to downgrade it to a union territory a tragedy. Farooq Abdullah said, “This has happened for the first time in the history of the country. A glorious state was made a union territory. It was a tragedy.” He said that India is a democratic country where the rules of the constitution should be followed by all.

Asked why elections are not being held in Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah said, “I don’t have any magic wand to tell the media why elections are not being held here. Don’t ask me that question.”

He said that a delegation of opposition leaders is going to meet the national leaders very soon. He has also talked about meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He said that the central government has failed to provide 50,000 jobs to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir as promised earlier. He said, “The youth in Kashmir are being forced to go outside for jobs. Don’t they have the right to get employment here?”
