Engineer murdered in Patna: He was beaten to death by ‘cooker’, had returned home to celebrate Eid, police suspected only close ones


A painful incident has come to the fore from Karbala Taj Nagar, Phulwari Sharif of Patna, the capital of Bihar, where an engineer who came to celebrate Eid from Delhi was beaten to death with a ‘cooker’. The criminals hit the pressure cooker so much that the engineer died on the spot and rivers of blood started flowing in the house. The cooker was also covered in blood. The incident is said to have happened on Sunday night. However, local people said that there was some dispute with the wife late in the night, although it has not been officially confirmed yet. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Zafaruddin (35), who had come to Patna from Delhi with his family to celebrate Eid. Phulwarisharif police station SHO Ikrar Ahmed Khan said the deceased suffered serious head injuries as the criminals attacked him with a pressure cooker.


Prima facie it doesn’t seem to be a case of robbery: Police

According to the police officials, prima facie, looking at the circumstances, there is no case of robbery. The police have not yet recorded the statement of the family. The matter is suspicious. Only Zafaruddin, his wife Shahnaz Parveen and two minor children were at home.

Suspects close to home: Police

Giving information about the incident, Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon said that Zafaruddin worked as an engineer in Delhi and had come to Patna with his family on Sunday. The first line of investigation indicates that an acquaintance of the family has committed the crime after a friendly entry into his home. Nothing was stolen from there. Zafaruddin’s wife said that she was sleeping in another room and saw the body in the morning. The manner in which the incident happened is very suspicious. His wife did not inform the police about the incident. She is not even opening up because, we think, she is in shock. Police is investigating the case.
