ED was investigating the connection of Parth and Arpita for a long time, now 11 bank accounts on the radar

The ED has seized over Rs 50 crore from the premises of former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee. Now both of them have 11 bank accounts on ED’s radar. It is being told that more than 8 crores are deposited in these bank accounts. Out of this 2.5 crore has been frozen debit. The way the ED raided the premises of Arpita Mukherjee, it seemed that all of a sudden it started happening. But it was not so. The ED was engaged in investigating the connection of Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee for a long time.

How Chatterjee and Mukherjee’s closeness came to be known

ED sources say Chatterjee has five bank accounts. These are in two public sector banks and one private bank. According to the affidavit given to the Election Commission in 2021, he has 60 lakh rupees in his account. At the same time, sources in the agency say that it was only after some documents that the closeness of Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee came to know. Officials had found papers of some of Chatterjee’s insurance policies in which Mukherjee’s name was put in the nominee. Apart from this, he had bought a house in Bolpur in 2012, whose papers were in the hands of the ED.

Partha Chatterjee became ‘poor’ day by day in Mamta government! In the affidavit, only one and a half lakh cash was claimed

Mukherjee’s lawyer says he has doubts on the papers the ED is talking about. They should be investigated. Let us tell you that Chatterjee had mentioned a 25 lakh LIC policy in the 2021 affidavit. Apart from this, no other information was given. At the same time, the property registry of Bolpur was done in 2012 in front of the Additional District Sub Registrar. It was signed by both Mukherjee and Chatterjee. Mukherjee had given his address as Tower II Flat 1A, Diamond City South. At the same time, Chatterjee had given his address as Khanpur Road, Naktala.

Wrong information given in the affidavit?

Together they bought a two-storey house for Rs 20 lakh. Both had photographs and thumb impressions in its documents. People living around this property say that both used to come and go there. One person also told that he had also seen Chatterjee’s car in the complex. However, Chatterjee did not mention this property in the affidavit. He only gave information about Khanpur flat and Netajinagar shop.
