The 24-year-old youth accused of raging communal riots in north-east Delhi has been granted bail by the court in five separate cases. The court while granting bail to the accused youth in this case said that the statements of two eyewitnesses of the police personnel in these cases are doubtful. Keeping this in mind, the accused youth is being granted bail in five cases.
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav based at Karkardooma granted bail to the accused on the basis of personal bond of Rs 20 thousand and surety of the same amount. The accused is accused of arson and damage to property in shops in Gokulpuri area during the riots. In these cases, the court commented on the police personnel and said that it is very shocking. The beat constable identified the accused and was noticing that the accused was continuously involved in the riots, despite this he waited until the accused was identified to record his statement. If he was recognizing the accused, he should have informed the top officials about the accused during the riots itself.
The court said that all the facts are raising doubts about the identity of the accused. The court said that the accused was arrested 50 days after the riots. The court also said that no CCTV footage has been found against the accused. However, the court has instructed the accused not to tamper with the witnesses and witnesses of the five cases. Also, the accused should also download the Arogya Setu app on his mobile phone so that his location can be kept known. The court also asked the accused to cooperate in the police investigation.
