The bodies of two real sisters were found hanging from a tree in a field in Nighasan area of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Wednesday evening. Both the girls belonged to the Dalit community. In protest against this incident, the local villagers protested by blocking the road at Nighasan intersection. The girls’ mother has accused three youths of a neighboring village of kidnapping and killing her daughters.
The main opposition parties Samajwadi Party and Congress have raised questions on the law and order situation of the state regarding this issue. The bodies of two teenage girls were found hanging from a tree in a sugarcane field at some distance from a village in Nighasan Kotwali area on Wednesday evening, police sources said here. He told that both the girls belong to the Dalit community. In protest against this incident, the local villagers protested by blocking the road at Nighasan intersection.
Accused of kidnapping from near the hut
Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Suman and Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh reached the spot along with a large number of police forces and assured the angry villagers of appropriate action. Sources said the mother of the deceased girls alleged that three youths, hailing from a neighboring village, killed her daughters after kidnapping them from near their hut. He said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the actual cause of death would be known only from the post-mortem report. The police is investigating the matter

Akhilesh compares Hathras incident
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress tried to surround the state government over the issue. Comparing the incident to the Hathras incident, SP President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “After kidnapping two Dalit sisters in Nighasan police station area and then their father’s allegation on the police is very serious that without Panchnama and consent.” His post-mortem was done. After farmers in Lakhimpur, the killing of Dalits is now a heinous repetition of the ‘Hathras ki Beti’ massacre.
Priyanka asked – when will the government wake up
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, ‘The incident of killing of two sisters in Lakhimpur is heartbreaking. The relatives say that those girls were abducted in broad daylight. Giving false advertisements in newspapers and TV everyday does not make law and order good. After all, why are heinous crimes against women increasing in Uttar Pradesh? When will the government wake up?’
