The Indian men’s hockey team continued its stellar performance and made it to the final of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. Indian team has reached the final of any Commonwealth Games for the third time. In the final, India will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Australia and England. The Indian team defeated South Africa 3-2 in the first semi-final played on Saturday. In this crucial semi-final match, India had taken a 2-0 lead till half time. Abhishek, Mandeep Singh and Jugraj scored for India.

In the third quarter, India got their fifth penalty corner of the match, but the Indian team could not convert this opportunity into a goal. After India, South Africa also got the second penalty corner of the match, which was well defended by the Indian team. However, South Africa opened its account soon after. Julius scored this goal for South Africa. After this goal, South Africa scored 1-2 in the match.

Shortly before the end of the third quarter, India got another penalty corner, but this time also South African goalkeeper Govan Jones stood as a wall for the team. However, South Africa also scored another goal with a minute left to bring the score to 2-3. However, after that, India maintained their lead and registered a 3-2 win. India has reached the finals of the Commonwealth Games in 2010, 2014 and now in 2022.
