Congress leader will not get more than 2 term of Rajya Sabha? Discussion in AICC meeting

Congress’s Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir is going on in Udaipur, Rajasthan. In this, all the aspects related to the rise of the party are being discussed. Should any Congress leader be given two terms of Rajya Sabha? This is the question on which the party high command is debating. Along with ‘One Family, One Ticket’, discussions are also going on regarding the tenure of Rajya Sabha members.

A member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) said, “It has been proposed before the high command that Congress leaders should not get more than two terms of Rajya Sabha. After that they will come forward to contest the Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha elections. But He should not be given a chance to go to the Rajya Sabha for the third time.”

Not only of the Rajya Sabha, a proposal has also been made in the meeting that the tenure of the leaders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) should be fixed at the block and district level as well. It should be fixed for three years. According to sources, the leaders will have to step down after the completion of the three-year term and another leader should get a chance. These leaders will work within the party or can also fulfill any other responsibility.

Congress leader Ajay Maken also referred to a similar proposal. “Any leader of the party who is in any position should get a fixed tenure. After that he should be removed from the post and another leader should get a chance,” he said. Also, during the local body elections, leaders of all levels of the party have been suggested to work on the ground. In addition, meetings of AICC and State General Body have been proposed to be called every five years.
