Collegium recommends elevation of Chief Justices of Allahabad and Gujarat High Courts to Supreme Court

The collegium has approved two more names for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court. The Collegium has recommended elevation of the Chief Justices of the Allahabad and Gujarat High Courts to the Supreme Court. The collegium panel has recommended to the central government the elevation of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, and Justice Arvind Kumar, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, to the Supreme Court.

Who is Justice Rajesh Bindal

Tell that Justice Rajesh Bindal was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court in October 2021. Before becoming the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Rajesh Bindal was the Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on 16 April 1961 in Ambala, Haryana. After graduating in law from Kurukshetra University, he started legal practice in the Punjab and Haryana High Court from September 1985.

Who is Justice Arvind Kumar

Talking about Justice Arvind Kumar, he was also sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court in October 2021. Prior to becoming the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Justice Arvind Kumar was serving in the Karnataka High Court and had succeeded Vikram Nath, the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.
