Chintan Shivir: Conflict on alliance with smaller parties in Congress; Big leaders advocated, Bihar opposed

To prepare a blueprint for the future strategy, the Congress is preparing for a new resolution. In this, the party leaders are emphasizing more on electoral victory than on strengthening the organization. Most of the members are of the opinion that Congress should look for new allies. Coalition should be done at the state level.

A leader said that many leaders including Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Pramod Tiwari and Prithviraj Chavan etc. had argued that there is not much time to adopt the ‘Ekla Chalo’ model. Therefore, the possibility of an alliance should be explored. However, not all leaders are unanimous on the alliance. Many leaders were of the opinion that there is no option but to contest the elections alone. In the new resolution, some members have also expressed displeasure about the discussion on only the topics already decided. Many members wanted a discussion on the reasons for the defeat, but were told to discuss the way forward.

opposition to coalition

According to party sources, Bihar Congress leaders opposed the alliance. His argument was that the Congress needed to be strengthened for long-term goals. The biggest difference is about the reflection on the reasons for the defeat. Party leaders want to express their opinion on the reasons for the defeat.
