Arpita Mukherjee’s life is in danger, the lawyer said – her food in jail should be investigated

Arpita Mukherjee’s lawyer, arrested in West Bengal teacher recruitment scam case, on Friday claimed that her client is facing threat to her life. We want a Division 1 prisoner category for that. Their food and water should first be tested and then given. Earlier, ED officials also admitted that Arpita Mukherjee’s life could be in danger. The court has sent former ministers Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee to judicial custody till August 18.

On Friday, ED officials produced Arpita Mukherjee before the City Sessions Court in Kolkata. He was arrested on July 23 along with Partha Chatterjee, who was a minister in the Mamata government. Arpita and Parth are accused of being involved in the teacher recruitment scam. In the 27-hour marathon raid that went to Arpita’s house, more than 50 crores cash and gold were recovered. Arpita had said that this money does not belong to her but to Partha Chatterjee.

Arpita’s life in danger

During the court appearance, Arpita’s lawyer said that her client is in danger of life. So he requested the court to first check the food and water provided to him. ED’s counsel also supported the view that there is a threat to his security. Therefore requested that they should not keep more than 4 prisoners. On the other hand, the court directed to send former ministers Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee to judicial custody till August 18 in the teacher recruitment scam case.
