Akali Dal against strictness on Amritpal Singh, announcement of legal help to the arrested

In Punjab, the case of crackdown on Amritpal Singh has taken political colour. The Akali Dal, which was in power in the state at one time, has defended Amritpal Singh saying that unconstitutional action should not be taken against him. The Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday termed the ongoing campaign to arrest Amritpal Singh as excessive. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal tweeted, ‘Akali Dal has decided that Sikh youth arrested under unconstitutional action will be given legal aid. We will not allow their weapons to be crushed by the AAP government.

The Akali Dal, which has also interfered in SGPC, has also issued helpline numbers for legal help to the arrested people. Badal tweeted, ‘Shiromani Akali Dal strongly condemns the arrest of innocent Sikh youth. Especially we are against the arrest of those youths who are Amritdhari. We demand that the innocent people who have been arrested should be released immediately. The Akali Dal leader said that we stand for justice and the protection of Punjabis.

Badal also accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of defaming Sikhs. He said that the AAP government has created an undeclared emergency like situation in Punjab. We warn the government not to conspire to defame the most patriotic Sikh community. She is doing this for communal polarization and electoral gains, which would be dangerous. For the past several days, the police of Punjab is busy in search of Khalistan supporter Amritpal. Till now he has not been caught, but the police have definitely arrested 150 of his supporters.
