Air India again offers VRS, 2100 employees will get a chance

Tata Group’s airline Air India has introduced Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for non-flying staff. This is the second such offer by the Tata group after it acquired the airline in January 2022.

Who will get the chance: This offer is for permanent general cadre officers who are 40 years of age or above and have completed a minimum period of five years of continuous service in the airline. Apart from this, employees of clerk or non-skilled category who have completed minimum five years of continuous service are also eligible. This offer will be open till 30 April.

2100 Employees in scope: Sources said that around 2,100 employees are eligible for this VRS. Earlier, Air India had brought a similar proposal in June 2022. According to the information, application can be given for this from March 17 to April 30, 2023. Eligible employees applying till March 31, 2023 will get Rs one lakh in addition to the ex-gratia amount. About 1,500 out of 4,200 eligible employees took advantage of the offer when it was first introduced.

In September last year, Air India announced the transformation plan Vihaan.AI, which focuses on different goals to be achieved over a period of five years. The objective of the plan is to make Air India a developed, profitable and market dominant airline.
