While stating that there is no information about the Arogya Setu App and after the notice of the Central Information Commission (CIC), the Center said that it is committed to provide all the information related to this app. .
The Central Government on Thursday said that it is committed to provide all the information sought about the contract tracing application under the Right to Information Act and follows the instructions of the CIC. The CIC sought a clarification in this regard by issuing a notice on the non-response from the government about the development of the app.
Officials said that the Central Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has strictly raised the issue of the information given about the Arogya Setu. Arogya Setu App has data of crores of people in the country.
He said that instructions have been issued by the Ministry to take action against the officers responsible for this. In addition, the National Informatics Center and the National e-Governance Division have ordered that the ITI responders take appropriate action against them. He said that the Ministry is committed to provide all the information sought under the ITI Act and follows the instructions of the CIC. The information commission had termed the reply on the government’s app as ‘extremely stupid’.
A person named Saurabh Das, who had filed an RTI application, had sought information about the creation of the app due to privacy concerns. NIC, the National e-Governance Division and the Ministry of Electronics and Technology refused to answer questions asked by Das. Subsequently, Saurabh filed an appeal before the CIC.
