7th pay commission: The Narendra Modi government has increased the dearness allowance ie DA of central employees and dearness relief ie DR of pensioners by 4 percent. How much will be the salary: Suppose a central government employee has a basic salary of Rs 23,500 per month. The employee used to get Rs 8,930 as dearness allowance at 38 per cent. Now with DA increasing to 42 per cent, this amount will be Rs 9,870. Thus, the salary of the employee will increase by Rs.9,870 – 8,930 = Rs.940.

How many people benefit, how much burden: Explain that the government’s decision will benefit 47.58 lakh employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners. After the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief will affect the exchequer by Rs 12,815.60 crore annually.

At the same time, additional installment of dearness allowance to employees and dearness relief to pensioners will be given from January 1, 2023.
