Valmiki reservation issue, decision for all-party meeting: CM Basavaraja Bommai announcement

Bangalore: CM Basavaraja Bommai has announced that he will call a meeting of all parties to discuss the issue of Valmiki reservation. He announced this issue in the assembly on Friday amid uproar.

A report has come from retired judges Nammohan Das and Subhash on the issue of reservation. He said that after keeping the two reports, a meeting of all parties will be called and the next step will be taken after discussing the constitutional and legal issue.

An all-party meeting will be called in this regard. The CM said in the House that a meeting will be called as soon as possible. Through this the problem will be resolved.

SC, ST, OBC all have our sympathy for reservation. The intention is to give them justice. He said that the government is bound to provide justice according to the reservation population.

We will work to respond to their feelings. In this regard, the CM requested that Valmiki Swamiji’s hunger strike should be dropped demanding reservation.

Reacting to this, Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah said SCs and STs should get reservation in education, employment and politics. Swamiji of Valmiki Samaj has been on sit-in for 200 days demanding reservation.

The Nagmohan Das Committee gave its report when there was a coalition government. It is clearly stated in it. Reservation for SCs should be increased to 15-17%, 7% for STs. Against this backdrop, an all-party meeting should be called and discussed. He demanded that there should be no delay.

Former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy said that the opposition leaders have proposed the issue of reservation. Our party agrees. Swamiji has been doing satyagraha for 220 days. He said that he would appeal to withdraw the strike.
