Bangalore: Sri Ramachandra’s birth day was celebrated with great fanfare in cities, towns and rural areas across the state on Thursday. Ram Hanuman devotees are celebrating by distributing panaka, buttermilk and kosambari everywhere. What is special this time is that Muslims in Mysore have forgotten communal harmony by sharing Rama Navami Panaka and buttermilk.

On the occasion of Sri Ram Navami, Abhishekam, flower decoration and special puja rituals were performed in Sri Rama and Anjaneya temples from early morning. Along with thousands of devotees going to the temples decorated with garlands and offering special pooja, Ram Nama was chanted. Various cultural programs including bhajan, dance, drama and music festival were organized on the occasion of Ram Navami in the temple premises and barangays. Also, panaka, buttermilk and kosambari were distributed throughout the day in temple premises and important circles.

Cultural city Mysore witnessed Hindu-Muslim harmony. Hindus and Muslims celebrated Sri Ramanavami with fervor by distributing panaka majji. Organized by the Mysore District Pendal Owners Association at Narayan Shastri Road in the city, on the occasion of Ram Navami, Hindu Muslims paid pooja to the portrait of Sri Ramachandra with fervour, and then distributed Panaka Majjige Kosambari to the devotees. The Hindu youth expressed their happiness at the participation of the Muslim brothers.

Shri Ram Rathotsav in Bangalore:

‘Sri Rama Rathotsav’ was held especially at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple on Mysore Road. In the morning, Abhishekam and Mahamangalarati were held for Sri Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Anjaneya Swami. Aravanti worship and festivals were held outside the temple. In the afternoon, “Sri Ramarathotsava” was held in the main street of the temple with mangalvadya. Similarly, Ramanavami special pooja was performed in most of the temples in Bangalore. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai, founder of Infosys Foundation Sudha Murthy participated in the Ramanavi program held at ISKCON.

Sri Ram Navami festival was celebrated in grand style at Malleshwar BJP office. Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa offered flowers to Sri Ramachandra’s portrait and performed puja kainkarya. On this occasion, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, Bhagwant Khooba and others were present.
