Although the government employees have demanded a 40% increase, the government has made this order effective from April 1 as an interim solution.

What’s in the order?

The order mentions that the government is pleased to grant interim compensation of 17% of the basic pay with effect from April 1, 2023 to the state government employees drawing pay in the revised pay scale of 2018.

Basic pay for the purpose of interim compensation means the pay drawn by a Government servant in the scale of pay applicable to the post held and in which (a) if he has been given a step-up in pay above the maximum of the scale, that step-up in pay.

(a) the personal pay, if any, granted to him under sub-rule (3) of rule 7, read with rule 3 (c) of the Karnataka Civil Service (Revised Pay) Rules, 2018, the additional pay sanctioned to him over and above the maximum of that personal pay e-scale. The order also mentions that they will be included in the promotion, if any.

Also, a committee has been formed to review the demand for re-implementation of the old pension system and has been ordered to submit a report within two months.
