Bengaluru: Six-time MLA and three-time minister, CM Siddaramaiah’s close friend Dr HC Mahadevappa has again got a ministerial post. Mahadevappa, who is an MLA from T Narasipur assembly constituency in Mysore district, is one of the influential Congress leaders in this part.
Mahadevappa has experience handling Rural Development and Panjayat Raj, Health and Public Works portfolios.
HC Mahadevappa Personal Life
70 year old HC Mahadevappa was born on April 20, 1953 in Hadinaru village of Nanjangudu taluk in Mysore district. His father was Chikmadaiah. Mother Madam. He is an MBBS graduate from Scheduled Caste (Right-handed) community. He completed his MBBS from JJM Medical College, Davangere in 1999. His wife was Mahadevamma. The couple has a son named Sunil Bose.
Political life
HC Mahadevappa was a ticket aspirant from Nanjangudu Assembly Constituency. But due to the sudden death of R Dhruvanarayan who was a ticket aspirant here, there was a proposal to give ticket to his son Darshan Dhruvanarayan. Thus, Mahadevappa, who had given up this constituency, was given a ticket from T Narseepur constituency.
Mahadevappa, who won as a Janata Party candidate from T Narasipur constituency in 1985, served as Health and Family Welfare Minister in the HD Deve Gowda, JH Patel cabinet from 1994-1999. In 2004, when the Congress-JD(S) coalition government led by Dharmasingh came into being, he held the portfolio of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.
HC Mahadevappa’s ministerial post was revoked because he was identified with Siddaramaiah, who had left the JDS and joined the Congress. He later joined the Congress and won in 2008 and 2013. He was Public Works Minister in the previous Siddaramaiah government.
2023 election
In the 2023 assembly elections, HC Mahadevappa, who contested from T Narasipur constituency, won by a margin of 18,618 votes by getting 77,884 votes. His nearest rival Ashwin Kumar of JD(S) secured 59,265 votes. In the 2018 elections, Ashwin Kumar of JD(S) had defeated Mahadevappa by 28,478 votes. In the 2013 elections, Mahadevappa defeated MC Sundaresan of JDS by a margin of just 323 votes.

HC Mahadevappa has stated in his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission that he has assets worth Rs 3 crore. He has also declared a loan of Rs 44 lakh. He has an inheritance of Rs 1.07 crore. The immovable property with him is worth Rs 2.75 crore. He said that two criminal cases are pending against him.
