Haveri Kannada Sahitya Conference: Boycott the conference if the government decides: Mahesh Joshi

Bangalore: The 86th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, which was scheduled to be held from November 11 to 13 in Haveri, the home district of the CM, has again faced disruption and a dark shadow has been cast over the conference.

Kannada Sahitya Parishad has decided to call an emergency meeting of the Executive Council on October 7 to take further action in this regard. What is the delay attitude of the government? It is possible to discuss why it is being postponed again and again. Will the council decide to sideline the government and hold the conference alone? Questions are coming up.

The conference had been postponed many times after setting the date. But the Chief Minister himself fixed the date to be held from November 11 to 13 and officially announced that it would be appropriate in November. But neither the formation of the welcome committee for the conference nor the release of the logo has taken place. Inviting dignitaries, appointing office-bearers to other committees (20 committees), no pre-preparations. So how will the conference be held on the fixed date?

After 2020, it was postponed for two years due to Covid. Later, dates were fixed once in August, September and then cancelled. The president of the conference has also been elected. But so far the 86th conference did not come in time. The President of Kasapa has expressed great sadness about this.

The Chief Minister should have officially informed the minister-in-charge and the Haveri District Collector about the preparations for the conference. But the CM has not said so far. Atta-in-charge Minister and District Collector have insisted that they will not do anything without the instructions of the CM. Amidst the tug-of-war, Karmoda has written a poem for a prestigious conference, and the honor of Kannada and Kannadigas has come under threat.

If the government decides, I will not go to the conference

Pre-preparations for the Kannada Sahitya Sammelan have not yet started. The government seems to be neglecting this. I am not a president who waits at the CM’s door every time to see the Chief Minister. Butchery is a symbol of self-esteem of mirrors. Such organization was left in Kannada Rajyotsava Award Selection Committee, State Level Committee of Kannada Language Integrated Development Bill 2022 Implementation Authority. Bureaucrats are also playing games with Kasapa. All this has to stop. Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Mahesh Joshi said that if it continues like this or if the ministers and the CM themselves take the decisions and hold the conference, I will have to decide not to go to the conference.
