Bangalore: The number of road accidents in the state is increasing year by year, taking an important step to save lives, the Health and Family Welfare Department has decided to include private hospitals in the accident zone under the scheme for accident victims.

25 places across nine districts of the state have been identified as high accident prone zones (black spots). Private hospitals have been included under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (AB-ARK) scheme to provide emergency treatment in case of an accident at these places.
Affiliated Hospitals
The Department of Health and Family Welfare has issued an order to include 16 private medical colleges and hospitals in the list of Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (AB-ARK) affiliated hospitals for emergency treatment in accident zones of the state.
Emergency medical treatment for victims
This scheme has been implemented with the objective of providing emergency medical treatment to road accident victims and steps are being taken to include private hospitals in the accident zone under this scheme with the objective of providing treatment during the golden hour of the accident and up to 48 hours.
Claim up to 1 lakh
1 lakh can be claimed if treated by a private hospital. So far only 16 hospitals could get treatment. Now the accident zones in all the districts of the state have been listed and the private hospitals around them have been included under this scheme. The health department has also issued a circular to private hospitals in this regard.

Dakshina Kannada: Kshema Hospital, Deralkatte; Kalaburagi: ESI Hospital and MRMC, Sedam Road; Udupi: Chinmaya Hospital, Vivek Hospital, Hi-Tech Hospital; Uttara Kannada: Hitech Hospital, Kumta, KLE (Kamal R. Naik Hospital), Ankola and RNS Hospital Mavalli.
74 types of treatments are emergency treatment
74 types of treatments are provided as part of emergency treatment to accident victims in hospitals under the list of ABARC affiliated hospitals.
