A Congress election committee meeting was held at a private resort on the outskirts of the city on Thursday. In the meeting, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who is the leader of the Legislature Party, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar, Legislative Council Leader of Opposition BK Hariprasad, State Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala were present.
Besides KPCC working president Salim Ahmed, campaign committee chairman MB Patil, former CM. Veerappa Moily, CWC members KH Muniyappa, Dinesh Gundurao, Youth Congress National President BV Srinivas Election Committee members were also present.
Application from 1230 aspirants
1230 aspirants have applied for the ticket. Some of these names have been omitted while making the short list. Names of incumbent MLAs, and candidates who lost by a narrow margin in the last election and some names have been shortlisted based on the survey. In some constituencies 20 to 30 aspirants have applied.
But it is known that among these only important names have been included in the list. In the meeting, the election committee members were told to give their opinions on inclusion or exclusion of candidates in written form.
First list final in 15 days!
It is known that the first list is likely to be finalized and released in 15 days. In this meeting the shortlisted names will be sent to the screening committee. After the discussion there, the list will be released.
