New Delhi: CM Basavaraja Bommai, who is on a trip to New Delhi, met Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, Minister of Forest and Environment Bhupendra Yadav and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed various projects and development programs of the state.

He met Piyush Goyal and requested him to provide grants under the Centre’s ‘Mitra’ scheme for the establishment of world-class mega textiles in Tumkur, Vijayapur and Kalaburagi districts.

These three districts are close to national and state highways and are well connected to all major cities and ports. The CM assured the Union Minister that due to the establishment of mega textile parks in these districts, the country will become self-reliant in the textile sector as per the Prime Minister’s dream.

“Vijaypur, Tumkur and Kalaburagi districts have educational and technical institutions. Due to this, the textile industry will get the required skilled human resources. Therefore, the CM requested that these three districts should be included under the ‘Mitra’ scheme of the Centre. Water Resources Minister Govinda Karajola and senior officials of the state were present on the occasion.

Appeal for release of rice
“The policy of limiting rice supply to 10,000 metric tons to the state should be reconsidered. 2 lakh metric tonnes of rice should be treated as a special case and released to the state under the open market sale scheme till March. 50 thousand metric tons of rice should be released immediately,” requested Minister Goel.

Bear sanctuary as an ecologically sensitive zone
He appealed to Union Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav to declare the area around Gudekote sloth bear sanctuary and Bhimagada sanctuaries as eco-sensitive zone. Further, he requested the Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to hand over the total 732.24 acres belonging to the state government in Tukamatti village of Belgaum district which is under the custody of the Defense Authority to the Belgaum District Commissioners and attend the inauguration of Sangolli Rayanna Sainik School.

The CM shared with the central leaders that the suggestions and instructions given by the party leaders are being followed from an organizational point of view. The CM has also sought time to meet the party’s national president JP Nadda, who is likely to meet late at night.
