Bengaluru: The Health Department has issued a circular to suspend the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Janarogya Arogya Karnataka Card (Health Card) throughout the Karnataka state from March 30.

This action has been taken in the background of the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct. Health Department Commissioner D. Randeep has issued a circular in this regard. “Assembly elections will be held in the state next May. The election code of conduct has been implemented in the state since Wednesday. Therefore, the distribution of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Janarogya Arogya Karnataka card should be suspended. Also, no activities related to the card, including card registration and distribution, should be done until further orders,” said the circular.

The circular has been sent to Health Officers, District Collectors, Heads of District Hospitals, Ayushman Yojana Implementation Officers of all districts of the state. With this, the registration process for the new Ayushman card will be suspended till the elections are over.

How to get scheme facility?

Holders of this card will be treated in a government hospital only where it is available. Otherwise referral will be given. A patient who gets a referral can get treatment at any registered private hospital of his choice. About 900 tertiary treatments including heart disease, cancer, kidney disease, neonatal disease and 169 emergency treatments including road accident can be treated directly at the registered hospital without any referral.
