UP Teacher Vacancy: 30 percent posts of teachers and principals are vacant in minority schools aided by the state government. A total of 7795 posts of principals and teachers are sanctioned in more than 300 aided high schools and inter-colleges run by minority societies like Muslims, Christians, Jains, Bengalis etc. in the state. According to the report sent by the Directorate of Education to the government, out of these 5483 posts of principals and teachers are employed while 2312 (29.66 or 30 percent) posts are vacant.
After the formation of the new government in the state in 2017, recruitment in these institutions was banned. Since then, the situation is getting worse due to non-admission. The government had fixed guidelines for the appointment of teachers in these colleges. For the written examination of teacher recruitment, the process of agency selection was going on at the government level in August last year. On the basis of which, after making a panel of top five candidates in merit, appointments were to be given to minority institutions only from among the selected candidates, but nothing happened even after passing of more than eight months.
Before 2017, the managers of these colleges used to appoint teachers directly from their level after taking permission from the officers of the secondary education department. Being a minority institution, the details of vacant posts of teachers are not sent to the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board.
