UP Police Constable Recruitment: Give reservation to candidates as per advertisement – High Court

UPPBPB UP Police Constable Bharti: Allahabad High Court has directed the UP Police Recruitment Board to give appropriate orders regarding appointment within 30 days by giving the benefit of OBC reservation to the candidates of Constable Recruitment 2015. The court said that if the candidate has mentioned the details of the caste certificate in the online application as per the conditions of the advertisement and has scored more marks than the prescribed cutoff, then he cannot be deprived of the benefit of OBC reservation.

The High Court has given this order on the petition of OBC candidate Shrikant Kushwaha of Constable Recruitment 2015. Advocate Sunil Yadav said that the petitioner had filed two OBC caste certificates claiming reservation. The details of one caste certificate were as per the advertisement and the other was an additional caste certificate issued by the State Government. The Recruitment Board considered the petitioner a general category candidate and deprived him of the benefits of OBC reservation. For this reason, despite scoring more marks than the OBC cutoff, the petitioner was declared unsuccessful.
