Hurdle of recruitment of 12,460 assistant assistants removed in primary, order for appointment to 6470 posts

UP Shikshak Bharti: In a big relief to the state government, the Lucknow bench of the High Court has rejected the decision of the single bench of November 1, 2018 to cancel the selection of 12,460 assistant teachers. Along with this, the court has issued a common merit list for the remaining 6470 posts in the said recruitment and has also ordered the state government to fill them within three months.

This order was passed by the division bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Om Prakash Shukla while simultaneously hearing 19 special appeals filed on behalf of Mohit Kumar Dwivedi and other selected candidates. The selection process for the said recruitment was started by issuing advertisement on 21 December 2016. The single bench had directed the state government to complete the said recruitments by conducting fresh counseling following the rules of UP Basic Education Teachers Service Rules 1981.

A demand was made before the single bench to quash the notification dated December 26, 2012, under which the freedom to choose any district as first preference for counseling was given in those districts where there was no vacancy.

Complete recruitment on remaining 6470 posts in three months

The court also found that 12,460 assistant teachers are currently working in the recruitment process after getting the appointment of 5990 candidates. Recruitment for the remaining 6470 posts should also be completed in three months. The two-member bench said that merit should always be given priority for good education.
