The cost of applying for admissions to Sainik schools across the country has been increased. The deadline for the applications expired on November 30. The decision was taken to extend the deadline for another five days. Officials of Sainik Schools have announced that applications for admission to classes 6 and 9 can be made till December 5. A notification has been issued to this effect.
Union Government Ministry of Defense has released a notification seeking applications from eligible boys and girls for admission in Class 6 and Class 9 through All India Military School Entrance Examination (AISSEE-2023) for the academic year 2023-24. Through this notification, admissions will be provided in around 33 military schools across the country. This entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the norms of Sainik School Society.

Age of students applying for admissions in class 6 should be between 10 to 12 years as on March 31, 2023. The age of the students applying for admissions in class 9 should be between 13 to 15 years as on March 31, 2023. Should have passed eighth standard in the academic year 2022-23. Interested students with these qualifications should apply online by 5th December 2022. At the time of application, general students have to pay Rs.650 and SC/ST students have to pay an application fee of Rs.500. The written exam will be conducted in offline mode on January 8, 2023 at around 180 exam centers across the country.

A total of 4,786 seats have been allotted for classes 6 and 9. There are about 4,404 seats for class 6. Out of these, there are 2,894 government seats and 1,510 private seats, and a total of 382 seats for the ninth class. 67 percent of the seats are allotted to the students of the state where Sainik schools are located and 33 percent to the students of other states. Out of these, 15 percent seats will be allotted to SC category, 7.5 percent to ST category and 27 percent to others as per reservation. Of the 50.50 percent seats, 25 percent will be reserved for children of ex-defense personnel and 25 percent for students from other states.
