AICTE: Fees for private engineering colleges in the country have been finalized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT). The Union Ministry of Education has approved the report submitted by the Committee of Experts on the minimum and maximum fees for engineering and management courses. Accordingly, the minimum fee in colleges is Rs. 79,600, with a maximum fee of Rs. 1.89 lakhs. It is learned that a central government committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Srikrishna was set up in 2015 to decide tuition fees.
The committee submitted its report to the Center in August last year. It has appointed another sub-committee to invite and review suggestions from the states on this report. AICTE has recently released its final report. The minimum for PG and PG courses is Rs 1,41,200 and the maximum is Rs 3,04,000. The minimum fee for engineering diploma courses is Rs 67,900 and the maximum fee is Rs 1,64,700. Fees for management courses can range from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1,95,200 per annum. The AICT said the fees should be enforced in all states.
