NIA raids in Jammu and Kashmir, arrests nine associates of terrorists

Srinagar, Oct 13 (PTI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested nine associates of terrorists during a search operation at 18 places in Jammu and Kashmir. The raids were carried out by the NIA following a case registered in connection with the conspiracy to attack in New Delhi and other cities besides the Union Territory. an officer gave this information on Wednesday.

The NIA had registered a case on October 10 and started investigation. An NIA spokesperson said that four persons were arrested on Tuesday while five persons were arrested on Wednesday during the raids conducted in different districts of the Valley.

The accused arrested on Wednesday have been identified by the investigating agency as Mohammad Haneed Chiralu and Arif Farooq Bhat, residents of Srinagar, Hafeez, both residents of Budgam, Owais Dar, residents of Pulwama and Matin Bhat, residents of Shopian.

The spokesman said on Wednesday that the NIA conducted searches at two places in Srinagar and seized documents related to jihadi and suspicious financial transactions along with electronic devices.

The spokesman said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the nine arrested accused were providing assistance in the activities of various terrorist organisations.
