The elimination of terrorists is going on in the valley. On Wednesday, security forces killed top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Sham Sofi in an encounter in Tral area of Pulwama. Encounter with terrorists is still going on. Army and policemen have cordoned off the entire area. Search operation is going on. Jammu and Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar has confirmed the death of the Jaish commander. In the last three days, eight terrorists have been killed by the security forces.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation there after receiving a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Tilwani Mohalla Waggad in Tral area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police official said. He said the operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. One terrorist was killed in retaliation by the security forces. Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said that the terrorist has been identified as Sham Sofi, the top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed. “Top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Sham Sofi killed in encounter,” he tweeted.
5 terrorists were killed in Shopian encounter
Significantly, after the martyrdom of five Indian soldiers, including a JCO, in the terrorist attack, the security forces are continuously conducting operations in search of terrorists. A day earlier on October 12, five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Shopian district. One of these terrorists was recently involved in the murder of a hawker from Bihar in Srinagar. A police spokesman had said that out of the four recent cases of selective killings in Srinagar and Bandipora, two have been resolved with the killing of the terrorists involved in these incidents.
The army gave many times a chance to surrender
After receiving intelligence, the security forces laid siege to two villages in South Kashmir and launched a search operation there. In Tulran, the terrorists were repeatedly given an opportunity to surrender but they opened indiscriminate fire on the joint forces of the security forces, after which the encounter started.
2 terrorists were killed in Anantnag and Bandipur
Earlier on October 11, two terrorists were killed and a policeman was injured in encounters with security forces in Anantnag and Bandipora districts. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Khagund in Verinag area of Anantnag district. The operation turned into an encounter as terrorists opened fire on the security forces. The force also gave a befitting reply to the firing. The second encounter took place at Gundjahangir in Hajin area of Bandipora district, where a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was killed.
