Politics: Congress angry with RPN Singh joining BJP, said- the war we are fighting is not for cowards

Former Union minister RPN Singh joined the BJP on Tuesday, shortly after quitting the Congress. The Congress party has reacted strongly to Singh’s resignation and said that the war which Congress is fighting can only be fought with bravery, cowards cannot fight this war. In five states including Uttar Pradesh, the resignation of Singh just before the assembly elections has dealt a big blow to the Congress. Former Sasand Singh from Kushinagar informed about this decision on Twitter and called it a new beginning for himself.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet during a press conference called RPN Singh a coward. “The battle that Congress is fighting across the country, especially in Uttar Pradesh, is against government resources and its agencies. It is a battle of ideology and truth and you must have courage and dedication to fight such a war. I don’t think this fight is for cowards. As Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, you cannot join this fight by being a coward.

BJP can give ticket to Singh from this assembly seat

57-year-old RPN Singh comes from the backward caste Sainthwar-Kurmi. Before resigning, he was handling the responsibility of in-charge of Jharkhand in Congress. The Congress had also included him in its star campaigners for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Now after joining the BJP, it is believed that the party can give him a ticket from Padrauna assembly seat of Kushinagar. From here he was MLA during 1996-2009. He has also been the secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) from 2003 to 2006.

Allegation: Singh was trying to topple the Jharkhand government

On the other hand, Congress MLA Amba Prasad has claimed that RPN Singh was engaged in efforts to weaken the Jharkhand government for more than a year in collaboration with the BJP. Prasad said in a tweet, “For more than a year, RPN Singh has been trying to topple the Congress-JMM government of Jharkhand by colluding with the BJP. The party leadership was also constantly warned about this. Every true Congressman of Jharkhand is happy with his joining BJP.
