Jharkhand: Prisoner found hanging in Hotwar jail, administration has written a case of suicide

A case of hanging of a prisoner from Ranchi, Jharkhand in Hotwar jail has come to light. After this incident, the jail administration has been blown away, officials say that the prisoner was in depression and was ill for a long time. On the other hand, after the matter came to light, a case of suicide has been registered by the jail management at Khelgaon police station.


According to the information, the body of a prisoner named Virendra Munda was found hanging on the noose in Birsa Munda Central Jail of Hotwar. The prisoner’s age is said to be around 32 years. Jail management told that Virendra, a resident of Raitoli of Lapung police station area of ​​Ranchi, was arrested by the police in the murder case, he was sent to the central jail in July, since then he was here, but his father died in the middle. Since then, Virendra started living in depression.

Was sent to the hospital on 15 November

Jail Superintendent Hamid Akhtar said that Virendra’s health had suddenly worsened on November 15, after which he was admitted to the hospital in the jail itself, but on Saturday night he hanged himself in the hospital room. He told that he lived under a lot of stress, due to which he often used to quarrel with other prisoners. On the other hand, Khelgaon police station in-charge Lalan Singh says that a case of suicide has been registered by the jail administration, the post-mortem of the youth has been done under close supervision.
