Congress On Women’s Reservation Bill: There has been a demand for bringing Women’s Reservation Bill in the country for a long time, but till date no government has paid attention to this issue. Now the opposition has decided to corner the Modi government on this issue. The Congress on Friday (March 10) asked the BJP to clarify its stand on the Women’s Reservation Bill. Also demanded to present this bill in the Lok Sabha in the second phase of the budget session of the Parliament.
Congress leader Alka Lamba said, "When the Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, there was a coalition government and the Congress did not have a majority in the Lok Sabha." They said, "We were successful in getting the Women’s Reservation Bill passed in the Rajya Sabha. This bill is still alive and the BJP government has a majority in the Lok Sabha. Let him pass it."
BJP should clarify its stand – Lamba
He said, "We demand that the Parliament session is starting, the BJP government should clarify its stand. The Women’s Reservation Bill should be introduced in the Lok Sabha and the rights of women should be ensured."
Demand BJP to pass the bill
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also attacked BJP in this matter. He said in a tweet, "On 9 March 2010, the historic Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha due to the efforts of the Congress leadership, but it did not get support in the Lok Sabha. The bill has not lapsed. It is alive and pending. What has stopped it from being passed again?"
BRS leader goes on hunger strike
Earlier, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister KCR and BRS leader K.K. Kavita did a hunger strike on this issue on Friday (March 10). Kavita has also demanded to bring Women’s Reservation Bill in this budget session. Now the same demand has been made from the Congress side as well. Leaders of 18 parties took part in his dharna. However, Congress leaders did not appear in this dharna.
