Twin Tests Of India-Made Air Defense System: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Tuesday (March 14) test-fired the Very Short Range Air Defense System from Chandipur off the Odisha coast. The video of this test has also surfaced, in which the missile is seen rapidly moving towards the sky as soon as the countdown is over. This air defense system has been prepared in India only. Its purpose is to neutralize low altitude aerial threats.
According to the news agency PTI, the Ministry of Defense said that flight tests were conducted from the ground-based portable launcher against high-speed unmanned aerial targets. It was also informed that the portable launchers were not unmanned. The target was successfully intercepted, fulfilling all the mission objectives, the ministry statement said.
