UNPOL Women Command Development Courses: The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought nominations from all police forces, armed forces and central agencies across the country for the United Nations Police Women Command Development Course 2023. Member states may nominate two female police officers for the fifth (English) and sixth (French) UN Police Women Command development courses by March 1, 2023. The courses are planned to be conducted in the first and third quarter of 2023. The fifth UNPOL Command Cadre Course will be organized by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at Canterbury Christ Church University.
In this regard, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday directed all Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police of all States and Union Territories, Director Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Special Protection Group, North Eastern Police Academy, National Criminology The Institute has issued a letter to the Directorate of Forensic Science, Central Forensic Science Laboratory and Coordination Police Wireless.
Letter sent to them too
Director General of Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Force, National Security Guard, Railway Police Force, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Shastra Seema Bal, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), National Investigation Similar letters have also been sent to the agency (NIA) and the Assam Rifles. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has also sent a similar letter.
The letter states, ‘Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations (PMI To UN) has informed about the invitation received from the United Nations Police Division for the UNPOL 2023 Women Command Development Course. Nomination sought. Member states may nominate two female police officers.’
What is its purpose?
It states that course participants who pass the assessment will be considered for membership in the UNPOL Women’s Command Cadre. The cadre is a talent pipeline intended to add senior women police officers to senior UNPOL leadership rosters, fast-track job vacancies for senior-level second positions, and contract professional positions.
Nomination will have to be given by February 17
The cost of travel, accommodation and food for the course participants will be borne by the United Nations. The letter states, ‘The last date for receiving nominations is February 17.’ It also mentions that the nominated candidates will have to go through a selection process.
