The sub-inspector’s car was hit by an IED. Planting case: Punjab Police arrested the main accused and his two accomplices from Himachal Pradesh

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that Yuvraj, a resident of Navi Abadi Faijpura, Himachal Pradesh, was arrested during an operation led by the intelligence agency. He has been arrested from Kullu of the state. He said that Yuvraj is a history sheeter and is involved in many heinous crimes including premeditated murder, dacoity and robbery etc.
He said that along with Yuvraj, the police arrested two of his accomplices Pawan Kumar alias Shiva Machi and Sahil alias Machi, both residents of Chamrang Road Amritsar, who have a criminal background and were wanted by the Amritsar police in various other cases of murder, snatching, dacoity, robbery etc.  Both the accused have been arrested in a dacoity case registered at Amritsar police station Majitha Road, while their role in the IED case registered at Ranjit Avenue police station in Amritsar is also being investigated.

This action was taken by the Punjab Police against Deepak (22) of Patti village of Tarn Taran, who was arrested on August 16, 2022 in the C-Block Ranjit Avenue area of ​​Amritsar by SI. The action comes four weeks after the arrest of seven people, including Yuvraj’s accomplice, who planted an IED under his SUV Bolero (PB02-CK-0800) outside Dilbagh Singh’s residence. Local police recovered a mobile phone-triggering IED weighing 2.79 kg  and about 2.17 kg of high explosive from the spot.   

The six other persons arrested on charges of providing logistical, technical and financial support have been identified as dismissed constables Harpal Singh and Fatehdeep Singh, both residents of village Sabra, Tarn Taran, Rajinder Kumar alias Bau. Harike, Taran Taran, Khushalbir Singh alias Chittu, Varinder Singh alias Abu and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi were all three residents of Bhikkhiwind. Success has been achieved in arresting the accused, while efforts are being made to extradite Canada-based gangster Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, who is plotting to disrupt the peace and harmony of the border state.  

DGP repeated, “Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann adopting a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social elements, the Punjab Police is committed to wiping out gangsters and drugs from the state.”

Police Commissioner (C .p) Amritsar Arun Pal Singh said that the police have obtained a seven-day remand of Yuvraj and further questioning is going on.

Lakhbir Landa (33), who hails from Tarn Taran and fled to Canada in 2017, also planned the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) terrorist attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali. He is believed to be close to Pakistan-based wanted gangster Harvinder Singh alias Rinda, who joined hands with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
