CM Stalin Launches Free Breakfast Plan: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin) on Thursday launched a free breakfast plan for government school students of classes 1 to 5 here. Meanwhile, CM Stalin served food to the school children and also sat and ate with them. Inaugurating the programme, he said that the scheme would bring beneficial changes in the lives of the poor. CM Stalin, referring to similar initiatives in America and Europe, said that several studies have concluded that Such breakfast schemes have improved the learning skills of children and increased their school attendance. 

Let it be known that a total of Rs 33.56 crore will be spent under this scheme, which will lead to 1 ,14,095 students will benefit and the scheme will be implemented in a total of 1,545 schools. This is the first phase of this plan.

Dream of great leaders fulfilled

Stalin said that for the first time mid-day meal was held in Chennai in 1992. The corporation school was started by Piti Thegaryar, a pioneer of the Dravidian movement and a stalwart leader of the Justice Party, but a few months before independence, the British state banned mid-day meals for children, citing economic hardship. was given After this, in the year 1955, former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj re-inaugurates mid-day meal scheme.

Role and responsibility of government

Stalin said that during his inspection of government schools in Chennai, he learned that many children come to school without breakfast. He said that children should not be taught in such a situation and that is why the breakfast scheme has been started. He said that in such a scheme, a child costs Rs 12.75 per day. Stalin said that this is not an expense, but a duty of me and our government.
