Congress On PM Modi Over New Parliament: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed building of Parliament on 28 May. The Lok Sabha Secretariat gave this information on Thursday (May 18). When the date of inauguration of the new Parliament House came, the Congress took a jibe at PM Modi. The Congress on Thursday said that the newly constructed Parliament House is a ‘personal ambition project’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. and questioned that what is the need of such a building, when the opposition’s ‘Mike’ have been closed. The opposition party also said that the Parliament House is not just a building but the voice of the voiceless.

All India Congress Committee General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh shared a picture of the Prime Minister reviewing the ongoing work on the new Parliament House and tweeted, ‘‘The only building of the new Parliament House to be inaugurated on May 28. Architect, Designer and Worker. The picture says it all… A project of personal ambition.’’

Manickam Tagore also taunted

Congress MP and party whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore tweeted, ‘‘Parliament House is not just brick and cement walls, it is the tongue of the voiceless.’’ He has questioned, ‘‘It is not a matter of place… It is not a matter of facilities… It is a voice. But when the mikes of the opposition are closed then what is the need.’’

According to the statement of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Prime Minister Modi on Thursday (May 18) and urged him to inaugurate it after the completion of the construction work of the newly constructed building of Parliament. It has been said in the statement that on August 5, 2019, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had requested the government for the construction of a new building of Parliament. After this, on 10 December 2020, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament building.

The newly constructed building of Parliament has been prepared in record time with quality. According to the statement, now the newly constructed building of Parliament will work to further enrich India’s glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values, while on the other hand this building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will help the members to perform their functions in a better way. Will get It has been told in the statement that under the new Parliament House, arrangements have been made for the meeting of 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 members in the Rajya Sabha. The present building of the Parliament has a seating capacity of 550 in the Lok Sabha while 250 in the Rajya Sabha.

The construction of the new Parliament building started two years ago. The new building is part of the nation’s powerhouse Central Vista redevelopment. Renovation of the three kilometer road from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, construction of a common Central Secretariat, a new office and residence of the Prime Minister and a new Vice President’s Enclave are also part of the project being executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). are part.  

The new building of Parliament is being constructed by Tata Projects Limited. The building will have a grand Constitution Hall, a lounge for Members of Parliament, a library, several committee rooms, dining areas and ample parking space to showcase India’s democratic heritage. The current building of Parliament was built in 1927.
