Nagaland Election: Municipal elections will be held in Nagaland after 20 years, 33 percent seats reserved for women

Nagaland ULB Election: The northeastern state of Nagaland recently went through the election process and Neiphiu Rio took oath as the Chief Minister. After this, elections are going to be held once again in the state, but this is the election which has not happened here for the last two decades. In fact, the Nagaland State Election Commission has announced the civic body elections on Thursday (March 09).

The Election Commission has said that it will hold elections to 39 urban local bodies (ULBs) on May 16 after almost two decades, with 33 per cent seats reserved for women. The newly constituted Nagaland cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in its first meeting on Tuesday deliberated on holding ULB elections by May this year with 33 per cent women reservation as directed by the Supreme Court.
